Process Driven

“Process” is a word that gets thrown around a lot, but it’s hardly ever explained. So, I want to break it down for you.

I want you to think of “process” as a way of doing what you already had to do anyway. It’s the way that you do the specific thing.

When I first started going to the gym, my process was virtually non-existent. Eventually, though, the gym became habit- I had to do it.

And that was when I began to form a process. I observed what was improving, and continued doing that.

When you begin to observe what’s working right, that’s the beginnings of your process. Try not to observe in order to critique or judge- just observe over a period of 4-12 weeks in order to see what the process is.

Build on that. Take what works and add to it. This is creating our process.

The easiest way to observe is to start writing down what you’re doing in order to get to a certain place. What steps do you take to reach your goal?

Are they working?

Building your process sounds hard, but it’s actually simple- just observe what you do and make subtle changes in order to improve your process.

You can also watch what other people do that’s getting them the results that you want. This doesn’t always work, but 8 times out of 10 this can be really helpful.

Having a solid process in place gives you something that you can ground yourself in at all times. When shit hits the fan, we need to have processes in place that will bring you further than you thought and bring you back to your center.

Good processes equal good results. Suddenly, things become easy in ways you could have never imagined.

It just takes one step.
